Those of you that saw a CAMRA booth at an event during craft beer week may know that we had a competition for members to win a seat on a bus trip to North Vancouver. Deep Cover Brewing and Distilling invited us over to see their new brewhouse so we took the lucky winners on a Sunday brunchtime tour of the brewery and taproom, weeks ahead of their official opening. Seeing how the space had changed since my last visit was particularly interesting to me, but one thing that really got people talking was their beautiful copper distilling sculpture.
After the tour we tried their Quick Wit wheat ale – larger scale production had only commenced after VCBW so only the wheat was ready. Thanks to Shae & Shawn for taking the time to show us around. Follow @deepcovecraft and @CAMRA_YVR for updates. Deep Cove’s grand opening is Friday July 19th.
A very short walk from the Deep Cove Brewery is nanobrewery Bridge Brewing, if you haven’t been to visit Bridge yet then you really should as their beer is consistently some of the best being made in BC. Patrick Dore the brewer welcomed us and we tried the three beers they had available, their Pale Ale, Wheat and IPA. all are excellent but we were lucky to also get the last of the Kolsch that went down so well during craft beer week. Many thanks to Rachel, Patrick & Leigh for sorting out out visit, giving some cool freebies and also announcing that CAMRA members now get their 9th Growler fill for free, just register your membership number and they will track them for you in the tasting room. Membership has it’s benefits!
Thanks to Willy for the photos and above all many thanks to Ira and Brahm from Wildside Vancouver for driving us over in their awesome bus. Wildside Vancouver are CAMRA supporters and are now running brewery tours in Vancouver. Contact them for more information.
