Events Update: January 2017

2016 was an amazing year for CAMRA events! We hosted CiderWISE, Mild May Cask Festival, Session Cask Festival, the first ever Vancouver Craft Cider Festival, CAMRA Member meetups and our Member Appreciation Night, a Port Moody Brewery Crawl, 12 exciting education classes and more. We had the chance to participate in several local craft beer events including the Tri-Cities Cask Festival,  BC Beer Awards, Vancouver Craft Beer Week, Whistler Village Beer Festival, Battle of the Beezer, the Vancouver Craft Brew Cruise, tap takeovers galore and many a cask festival! 2016 was packed full of fantastic beer events and we’re so glad we could share them with you! 2017 is already shaping up to be just as exciting, read more about our upcoming events below!

We rounded off the 2016 with two final fantastic events: Beer Trivia and Big Beers & Strong Ales.
Hosted by IQ 2000, we put the knowledge of local craft beer lovers to the test with CAMRA Vancouver’s Beer Trivia at 12 Kings Pub. Congratulations to our winning team: Twist and Stout who had a near perfect score! Our lowest scoring team also won a prize, tickets to a CAMRA Vancouver education class to help boost their beer knowledge.

We wanted to end a year of education in a BIG way! Our final class of the year was Big Beers & Strong Ales, taught by our Vice President and Head Brewer of Bridge Brewing, Kerry Dyson. We enjoyed a diverse sampling of some big brews in this sold out class including: Driftwood’s Cellar Dweller, Bomber’s Russian Imperial Stout and Strange Fellow’s Boris.

After resting up and sampling some festive brews, we’re returning with our first 2017 event on January 17!

As we approach CAMRA Vancouver’s 2017 AGM on February 26 (more details to come), we begin the process of opening nominations for executive board member roles.
