Hello members and community friends,
It’s true, when Adam first asked me if I would accept a nomination to be President, I did say no. I had only been an executive member for half a year, and only actively involved in the community for a bit over a year before that. I was new, different and was not a part of what was currently established. But then I realized, what is currently established can change – in fact, it should change! That’s not to say we should scrap the whole thing and start anew; but we have a foundation here to build off of that can be something amazing! I see a Vancouver chapter that is about 1,300 members strong – but is only partially engaged. Outside of the city’s core, our activity dwindles until it fizzles out almost entirely. My vision in this year is about bringing more community activity to the far-reaches of our chapter. I see a revamping of our Education Programs to reach a wider demographic and bring some variety that extends outside of a sit-down pencil and paper lecture. (Not that there is anything wrong with that!) I see campus communities thirsting for engagement and involvement in our greater scene. I see an amazing group of like minded people that have a foundation that can be used to build something bigger and better.
