It’s been a summer packed full of events for our CAMRA Vancouver members, we’ve enjoyed brewery crawls, the brew cruise, cask fests and plenty of education evenings! It’s been a fantastic summer and we can’t wait to bring you even more events in the upcoming months!
August was packed full with great beer events! We were thrilled to have Danny Seeton of Parallel 49 and Iain Hill of Strange Fellows teaching Yeast 101 and Wild & Sour Ales respectively.
We took to the high seas, and had the chance to meet some new members and old friends aboard the annual Vancouver Craft Brew Cruise on August 19th and 20th.
August 27th we hosted our 5th Annual Session Cask Festival at Central City Brewpub on Beatty. There was 13 great casks from Vancouver’s finest breweries! This year’s awards went to Fuggles and Warlock who won People’s Choice – Best Cask for their Gin & Lime Pilsner and Bridge Brewing who won our BJCP-judged Best in Show award for their English Summer Ale.
We can’t stress how accommodating, flexible and collaborative the team at Central City were. Their management team (particularly Ali and Jay) were a huge reason for our event’s success! We’d also like to thank the amazing volunteers that came out to pour, run buckets, run ice, move casks, manage tables, and more! These events are simply not possible without these people doing such good (but oft thankless) work. Lastly, a big thank you to the CAMRA Vancouver Executive board, who really came together overcoming some unforeseen hurdles to put on a truly memorable event! Kudos to each and every one of you!
Like many of you, we celebrated the long weekend at Tri-Cities Cask Festival! As part of our Safe Ride Home initiative, we were there offering free transit passes to anyone who needed a safe way to get home after the fest. Thank you to the Tri-Cities Cask Fest and their volunteers for putting on such a fantastic festival, we can’t wait for the next one later this fall!
Summer may be ending, but that doesn’t mean festival season is over yet!
We’ll be heading up to Whistler September 17 and 18 to celebrate Whistler Village Beer Festival. CAMRA members can enjoy 15% off tickets to the main festival, send an email to our Membership Coordinator Shawna to get your promo code.

Gain a better understanding of why beer smells, tastes, and acts like it does. Members tickets are only $15 and include samples. This extremely popular class always sells out, get your tickets early by visiting our Eventbrite page!
Celebrate National Organic Week at Dogwood Brewing on September 25! Our Vice President Kerry Dyson will be teaching a Home Brew 101 course, and Raintown Bees will be teaching a Bee Keeping 101.
