Spring Sessional Cask Festival 2014

CAMRA Vancouver and The Cobalt are pleased to present: Spring Sessional Cask Festival May 10, 2014

This event is focused on “sessionable” ales in a variety of styles. Local brewers have been challenged to brew a low ABV ale, full on taste and flavour. There will be a People’s Choice award, as well as a prize for best ale as judged according to BJCP standards.

Where: The Cobalt, 917 Main Street

When: Saturday, May 10th

Time: 1-6pm

Details: $30 ($25 for CAMRA and Vanbrewers Members) – ticket price includes a 5oz taster glass (yours to take home) and 3 drink tokens. Additional drink tokens will be available for $1.25 each. On sale now!

What is “sessional” or a session beer you ask? and why?

Any style of beer that is brewed to be low in alcohol (4.5% or lower) without sacrificing flavour or the malt to hop balance, resulting in an extremely drinkable beer. The purpose of these beers is to allow repeated consumption over a long session without overwhelming the palate or coherence of the imbiber. The traditional bitters and milds of England typify session ales, but most any style can be brewed to be sessional.

Less than 4 weeks until our 3rd Spring Session Cask Festival! Tickets are moving fast and we are nearly half sold!
