Happy summer y’all! One reason I love this season is it goes so well with nice cold beer, and there are so many summer festivals which celebrate this fact. Two notable fests have already kicked off the month for us with a bang: the Squamish Beer Festival on July 8th at O’Siyam Pavillion offered up 40 breweries and 120+ beers, plus music and food trucks all in the beautiful setting of the Squamish Valley – and on the same day, the Farmhouse Festival also delighted attendees with “the funky, the fruity, the peppery, the estery, the tart, the dry, and the sour” along with food, shade, and everything for the DDs to enjoy, too. What a start to July!
Next up: July 15th is the Red Truck Parking Lot concert series at the Truck Stop on E 1st Ave. I have been to a couple of these events, and if you can get a ticket, they are a blast! Local bands, lots of Red Truck beer, some wine, too, and great food, all enclosed in their huge parking lot. It’s super close to lots of transit, so don’t drive and enjoy yourself.
On Thursday, July 27th, get ready to sing God Save The Queen as our Education Liasion and Certified Cicerone Alastair Lindsay® takes you across the UK and Ireland to explore the historical ales this region has cultivated over hundreds of years in English Ales 101! He’ll be featuring everything England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales have to offer (and don’t worry Ireland, we haven’t forgotten about you either!) at this class at Big Rock Urban. Tickets are only $15 for CAMRA members and available on our Eventbrite.
As I’ve said before, check out the What’s Brewing’s calendar for all your tap take-overs, casks, and even some Vancouver Island events – Hot Tip, CAMRA Victoria is hosting a Port Angeles Brewery crawl on July 22nd, so grab your passports and hop on a couple ferries for some great American Craft Beer.
Enjoy summer, drink local, stay safe, and wear sun screen.
