Although hops are only one of the 4 main ingredients of beer they have certainly taken centre stage in the current Craft Beer renaissance. From cultivation and breeding, to brewing techniques and resulting characters, hops are a fascinating and complex subject. This introduction to the marvelous Humulus lupulus, along with samples of beer of course, should allow any beer drinker to examine beer styles in a completely new light.

The esteemed head brewer from Parallel 49 Brewing Co., Graham With, will be spreading his knowledge of hops in the Hops 101 class. As an award winning professional and homebrewer, as well as a Certified BJCP beer judge, Graham knows a thing or two about hops and the role they play in beer. He has also been growing hops for a few years and may even convince you to include them in your own landscape.

Hops 101 will be repeated periodically, check the events calendar for updated information. If you would like to schedule a craft beer education event, please contact our Education Liason.
